Golden Hour Family Photos at Usery Mountain
One of my very favorite parts of being a family photographer in Mesa is watching clients become friends. What starts as a photography session can turn into years of memories, catching up, and getting to watch their families grow.
I first met Kairleigh when she reached out to me for photos for her organizing business, and we quickly realized we had so much in common. Since then, I've had the privilege of photographing her family year after year—and even getting to see them in between their annual sessions!
So when we planned this year's session, I was already excited to spend time with them again. Add in some absolutely perfect desert light, and it turned into such a beautiful evening.
Beautiful Usery Mountain Family Photography
For this session, we headed to one of my favorite locations for Usery Mountain family photography. The desert landscape is incredible, with towering cacti, mountain views, and beautiful open spaces that create a timeless Arizona backdrop.
But the real star of this particular evening was the light.
The sun was hitting the desert at just the right angle, creating that warm, soft glow that makes golden hour family photos at Usery Mountain so special. The light wrapped around the family beautifully and gave the entire gallery a warm, dreamy feeling.
It's hard to beat an Arizona sunset!

There's something about golden hour family photography in Mesa that I never get tired of. The desert seems to completely transform as the sun gets lower, and even familiar locations can look completely different.
The warm light softened the landscape and created beautiful highlights throughout the session. It also gave us that gorgeous golden glow on skin tones that makes outdoor family photos feel so timeless.
When the light is this good, it doesn't take much to create beautiful images. All we really needed was this sweet family, a beautiful location, and a little time together.
How Many Photos Can You Get During a Mini Session?
This session was actually just a mini session—and I love how much we were able to accomplish in such a short amount of time!
Mini sessions can be perfect for families who want updated Usery Mountain family photos without committing to a full session. When everyone is ready to have fun and work together, we can move efficiently while still capturing a variety of poses, interactions, and genuine moments.
We were able to get so many different images during this session, from classic family portraits to more natural moments in between.
Sometimes you really don't need a long session to create a gallery full of memories.
