What happens when a birth photographer doesn’t make it to the actual moment of birth? I was about 5 minutes late for this birth in Mesa, Arizona, and thought I was so bummed to miss that moment for them, it’s definitely something that happens! Mom went from a 4 to an 8 in an hour, and from an 8 to a 10 in 15 minutes (and I was 20 minutes away)! I walked in while they were all cleaned up and experiencing golden hour - and that is what I photographed! All those first moments are still there - the cuddles, the tiny details, etc.
Luckily it’s really rare to miss a birth (this is the only one I’ve missed!), but rest assured that you’ll still get amazing pictures during golden hour!
