This newborn photography session at Coon Bluff in Mesa, Arizona, is one of those sessions that I look at and think, "did I really take those?!" Taking newborn pictures has to be one of my absolute favorite things to do! I was double excited when my friend Kim asked me to do them outside, with full on natural light, during the golden hour!

One of my favorite things about being a family photographer is photographing KIDS. During this session in Mesa AZ, the Walker's little girl couldn't help but strike a pose every time she caught me pointing my lens toward her!

A couple months ago in Arizona, we had a ton of rain! Like, more rain than we've had in years. Because this rain came during the Spring time, we had what was called a "superbloom," which basically meant that everything was green and the perfect backdrop for family photography sessions!

There is a lot of competition here in Mesa, Arizona, for family photographers, and that can be a hard hurdle to jump for a new and still-learning photographer. One of my biggest reasons for starting to blog again was to chronicle my journey to learning how to be a photographer.

My sweet friend Kim was kind enough to be my very FIRST maternity model. Her photos in Mesa, AZ, are still some of my favorites, with the dark shadows and bright skin tones!

My sweet sister-in-law and her family wanted pictures in the desert, so we thought Lost Dutchman State Park in Mesa, Arizona, was the perfect spot for their family photography session!
