I remember the first time my best friend asked me to do her photos, and I don’t know why I was so emotional! I had just started as a family photographer in Mesa, Arizona, and her husband had been a photographer for years! I was so nervous to take their photos but so happy to document their pregnancy for them. those are still some of my favorite photos ever!

Now 6 years later, I love taking their family photos because they feel like part of MY family! This location is so them, too! They love clean modern lines with a little bit of vintage. I love the light of this spot because it’s so even and flatters everyone’s skin tones!

For this session, we headed downtown for some beautiful downtown Mesa family photography. This location felt so perfectly them. They love clean, modern lines with just a little bit of vintage, and the architecture and surroundings downtown gave us exactly that look.

I also LOVE the light at this particular spot. It’s so even and flattering, which makes it one of my favorite places for Mesa family photography. The soft, flat light keeps skin tones looking beautiful and lets the focus stay on the family and their connection.

One of my favorite things about taking family photos in Mesa Arizona is finding locations that feel unique to each family. I never want every session to look exactly the same, and I love choosing a spot that fits the family's personality and style.

For this family, the clean architecture, simple backgrounds, and little vintage touches were such a perfect fit. We were able to get a mix of classic family portraits while still keeping everything relaxed and natural.

And because I’ve been photographing this family for so long, there’s something extra special about these photos for me. I’m not just documenting a family session—I’m documenting people I love and getting to watch their kids grow up in front of my camera.

Fall leaves in Arizona are an absolute treat, especially when you randomly find them lining the curb during your session! 😂

It was the sweetest little unexpected detail and added the perfect pop of fall to their downtown Mesa family photos.

Six years after that very first session, I’m still getting to photograph this family, and I don’t take that for granted. There is something so special about having families come back year after year and letting me document their story as their kids grow.
